What does it mean bringing together System and Silicon ?

The System-on-Chip (SoC) is designed to be part of the system application hardware. Therefore, a complete system validation requires the availability of the SoC functions. But in practice, SoC design takes months before the first samples become available. Waiting for SoC samples to start system validation not only increases time-to-market but also endangers the project if severe system failures requiring SoC re-design are detected.

The Scaleo chip innovating Fast2SoC platform addresses these issues using one of its key components: Fast2SoCModule, a highly configurable prototype providing a fast SoC substitute (within days) which, together with the appropriate software, enable early application system validation. At the same time, Fast2SoC framework is made up of powerful software and hardware IP libraries and tools, enabling fast implementation of the Software, SoC RTL design and SoC prototyping while the SoC itself is still in early design phases. Here is a summary of the main advantages:

  • Software and application parallel development with the SoC RTL Design
  • Larger focus on Software application development, the part of the activity that really adds value
  • Getting fast SoC RTL with a powerful automation
  • Strong validation & test strategy leading to SoC Silicon First-Time-Right
  • Time-to-market and cost reduction
